Well, they did it !! We're ecstatic to announce that Dolls Point are the All Age D Minor Premiers and Back to Back Premiers for 2016. This is the first side since the 1984-85 All Age A Reserves team to go back to back for the club. This team, however, had to do it by stepping up a division from E Grade in 2015. Despite the final scoreline, All Saints proved why they were such worthy Grand Finalists and had actually beaten us twice in the two meetings during the season. The last win was in the major semi final 2 weeks ago. As expected the game started at a frantic pace with All Saints probably having the upper hand for the early part. A Dolls Point goal from the birthday boy, Andy Pukitis after 12 minutes settled the side down and were able to get into their passing rhythm. The game went into a high quality thrust and parry as both teams produced their best for the last game of the season.
At half time, with the score at 1 - 0 Dolls Point knew that the game was far from over and a penalty after 56 minutes bought the opposition right back into the game. The boys found another gear, a sublime second goal from Robbie Bustos, 26 minutes into the second half, from just outside of the box put us ahead 2 - 1. A third goal from Blake with 10 to go, relaxed the crowd (mostly Liam's mum Adrienne who seemed a little anxious) and the team pushed forward again to find the 4th goal right on full time to get the party started. (Although, certain members of the crowd had already started the party a fair bit earlier. Not naming anyone, Manny?) Congratulations to everyone in the team, rest up and the BBQ's ... err .... training start again in January.
